Summary

OP is looking for a Data Privacy Specialist who will support the Privacy Team to ensure that all privacy requirements are properly implemented while developing new business opportunities and system enhancements. This role is critical in safeguarding sensitive data, building privacy-by-design frameworks, and fostering trust with customers, employees, and stakeholders. This includes validating privacy compliance when there are changes to how data is collected, used, transmitted, or stored. The role requires close collaboration with Product Owners, Legal, IT Security, and development teams to ensure privacy-by-design principles are embedded in product and process development.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Product Owners and development teams to guide privacy-compliant solutions for applications, telematics products, marketing initiatives, and customer-facing systems.
  • Collaborate with the TL1 and Office of Privacy to understand and apply Consumer Privacy Protection Principles, relevant data privacy and security laws, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor and interpret global privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, HIPAA, etc.) and ensure compliance across all data handling processes.
  • Work with Legal and business teams to maintain and update customer-facing notices, including app and head unit notifications.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on privacy, data protection, and related security issues.
  • Review Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and other internal privacy and security assessments to ensure risk mitigation.
  • Support privacy sign-off processes by validating that design and implementation decisions meet privacy requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience, with a strong preference for candidates with hands-on experience conducting privacy risk assessments and vendor due diligence.
  • Solid understanding of data analytics and how to interpret complex digital data to support privacy and security decisions.
  • Familiarity with modern IT architectures, systems, and environments, with an ability to analyze data flows and associated risks.
  • Hands-on experience with databases such as Oracle, Snowflake, and MongoDB.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to implement privacy-by-design frameworks.
  • General knowledge of data security tools and systems.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. and global privacy regulations, including CCPA and GDPR.
  • Privacy certifications such as IAPP CIPP, CIPT, or equivalent are highly preferred.
  • Technical aptitude and prior exposure to development environments (development experience is a plus, but not required).
  • Experience with cloud platforms and big data technologies is a plus.
  • Experience in Automotive is a plus.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in OP monthly team meetings and participate in team-building efforts.
  • Contribute to OP technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
  • Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base.
  • Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
