Position entails working closely with Vehicle teams to verify that the latest technology meets or exceeds both internal and regulatory Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) requirements and standards. Oversee EMC lab testing at the vehicle level, verify results and then sign off for compliance. Work with the product teams to resolve and correct all issues that do not meet prescribed performance levels. Represent the EMC team by documenting performance and providing product teams guidance on the path to shipment.

In addition, you will support the design of Electrical/Electronic (E/E) commodities/subsystems with respect to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). The engineer will be responsible for review, assessment and supplier feedback with respect to the commodity circuit design in addition to printed circuit board (PCB) layout. The engineer would also be responsible for working with Ford suppliers to develop EMC test plans and monitor execution of EMC validation testing. The engineer will work closely with the Ford electronics product development teams, as well as with EMC vehicle application teams to assure robust design. This is a hybrid role, both onsite and remote.

What you will be able to do:
  • Provide EMC technical support to vehicle programs and product design teams.
  • Oversee EMC lab testing at the product level.
  • Verify results and then sign off for compliance.
  • Lead resolution of end product level issues detected during tests.
  • Review and approve component EMC test plans for new devices that are part of candidates lead vehicle.
  • Participate in technical reviews for all commodities as a member of the technical review board.
  • Conduct EMC Design Reviews of components and associated vehicle wiring/packaging.
  • Leverage analytical methods, CAE numerical tools and empirical testing to assess robustness.
  • Work with suppliers to review upfront design proposals and system tradeoffs to ensure EMC requirements are met.


Required Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree.
  • 2+ years of relevant EMC experience in E/E commodity design and validation, or vehicle EMC design and validation.
  • 2+ Years of demonstrated experience working with electrical test equipment including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers and signal generators.
  • No Sponsorship is available

Preferred Experience:
  • MSEE with focus on RF systems and electromagnetics in addition to 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills leveraging applied electromagnetic theoretical concepts.
  • NARTE Certified EMC Engineer.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and finish tasks on time.
  • Goal oriented, and a team player with good interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills required, both written & verbal.
  • A self-starter, motivated and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
