Title: SCOM Engineer | System Center Operations Manager Specialist

Overview:
Join our IT Operations team as a SCOM Engineer and play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining monitoring solutions using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). You will drive performance, uptime, and reliability for enterprise infrastructure by crafting robust monitoring and alerting strategies.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage SCOM monitoring rules and alerts for servers, applications, network devices, and infrastructure.
  • Monitor SCOM dashboards, proactively addressing system issues and potential risks.
  • Configure notifications for alerts via email, SMS, and ticketing systems based on severity.
  • Install, configure, and customize SCOM Management Packs; develop custom packs for specific monitoring needs.
  • Analyze SCOM reports and performance metrics to identify trends, bottlenecks, and provide actionable insights.
  • Generate and distribute custom health and performance reports to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot and remediate alerts; collaborate with other IT teams to resolve issues.
  • Manage all aspects of SCOM infrastructure: management servers, data warehouse, reporting.
  • Perform upgrades and patch management to ensure up-to-date and secure SCOM environments.
  • Administer user access and permissions within the SCOM console.
  • Integrate SCOM with other IT management tools such as ticketing systems, change management, and service desk platforms.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) architecture and functionalities.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and related Microsoft technologies.
  • Proficient in PowerShell or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience designing and implementing monitoring solutions in complex enterprise IT environments.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis for system performance issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience integrating SCOM with ITSM/ticketing platforms.
  • ITIL familiarity is a plus.
