Job Details

NGDS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to serve as a Systems Sustainment Administrator within a dynamic and fast-paced 24/7 operational team. This critical role supports the sustained operation and maintenance of a newly deployed naval enterprise transport network, ensuring 24/7/365 availability and reliability.

As a Systems Sustainment Administrator, you will play a key role in troubleshooting and resolving Tier 1-2 operational issues, leveraging a suite of tools and processes to monitor the performance and availability of managed services and systems across multiple exchange points.

This position is integral to maintaining the operational integrity of a mission-critical network, requiring both technical expertise and a commitment to excellence in service delivery.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Incident Response: Quickly identify, triage, and address outages, analyzing symptoms and potential root causes to implement effective resolutions or escalate to Tier 3 support when necessary.
  • Performance Monitoring: Utilize advanced monitoring tools to oversee network infrastructure and ensure optimal performance.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Provide clear, professional written advisories to customers and operations staff, translating technical information into actionable insights.

Desired/Required Skills:

  • Active Department of Defense Secret SSBI level security clearance or higher is required.
  • DoD Approved 8570 / 8140 OS and Cybersecurity certifications required.
  • Up to 5% travel required.
  • 2 years relevant experience in supporting a large network infrastructure.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
  • A strong working knowledge of Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Virtual Private Network devices.
  • A good understanding of TCP/IP regarding routing and subnetting
  • Must be a team player that can work under pressure with good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with the following services: Linux, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS
  • Experience with the following a plus: Python, BASH, PowerShell, Ansible (Tower), Puppet, Chef, Terraform, Containerization, Jenkins, VMWare vSphere, or InfoBlox DDI.
  • Adapt rapidly to new systems and technologies
  • Resolve complex issues efficiently and effectively
  • Communicate technical details in a clear, concise, and professional manner to diverse stakeholders
  • A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priority
  • Must be willing to work shifts to cover a 24x7 operational environment
  • Must be willing to cover on-call schedule on a rotating basis
