Job Details
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all phases of plant operations across multiple manufacturing facilities within the region. This includes production, planning, inventory control, quality control, shipping and receiving, and maintenance. Reporting directly to the President, the General Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in driving operational excellence, meeting customer demands, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include strategic planning of manufacturing activities, managing plant personnel performance, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct the manufacturing process, ensuring quality standards are maintained from material receipt to shipment of finished goods.
Develop and manage production schedules, aligning manpower, materials, and equipment to meet customer requirements.
Monitor plant operations to ensure efficiency and explore opportunities for improvement in cost, quality, maintenance, and safety.
Lead and motivate Plant Managers, Supervisors, and production personnel to achieve performance objectives.
Establish management systems for setting goals, conducting evaluations, training, and handling disciplinary actions.
Ensure compliance with safety standards (including OSHA) and all applicable laws and regulations.
Drive employee engagement through communication of company policies and safety programs.
Lead continuous improvement efforts, including cost-reduction initiatives, operational process enhancements, and employee development.
Identify and recommend capital equipment needs and process improvements.
Streamline production reporting systems to reduce redundancy and improve data accuracy.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in Engineering or a technical discipline preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in manufacturing, with at least four (4) years in a senior leadership or supervisory role.
Proven background in manufacturing equipment management, production planning, and financial oversight.
Experience with business management software (e.g., ERP/MRP systems, SAP).
Special Requirements:
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and their practical application in a manufacturing environment.
Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations affecting manufacturing operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all organizational levels.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with production and reporting software.
Previous experience in processing and blending refractory aggregates and/or minerals is preferred.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities.
Excellent organizational and task prioritization skills.
