Structured Cabling Network Engineer
Work Arrangement: Onsite

**Local Richmond, VA candidates required due to onsite requirement
**Candidates must possess a clean driving record (this will be verified) as their job involves field work within the state of VA, driving either a leased or a state vehicle
**Candidates must maintain insurance coverage during this engagement (this will be verified)
**Candidate must be able to pay for room/board while travelling - to be reimbursed by agency. Gas card provided for gas only
**Travel may include some overnights, with notice
**ONSITE interviews strongly preferred
Agency is seeking an IT professional to provide network services;
* Troubleshooting
* Monitoring
* Engineering
* Cabling (Data/Voice)
* Evaluating performance
* Optimizing system performance
for the agency . Which at times, may require statewide travel with an occasional overnight stay to perform work.
The selected candidate will design, direct, review, implement, improve, engineer, and cable (network/voice). The selected candidate will work with vendors to develop and implement solutions, develop policies and guidelines, troubleshoot major/minor network failures, analyze network capacity, manage vendor relationships, support agreements, and validate network billing related to all aspects of the network based on Network and Telecommunications standards and best practices.
Experience in network engineering to include analysis of network requirements, performance for a large-scale network. Experience in data and telecommunications to include installing, testing, and inspecting deployed data communications systems. Experience installing, migrating, and supporting critical, multi-site networks a plus.
The selected candidate will coordinate and interact with multiple vendors for problem resolution and diagnosing networking issues. Knowledge of wireline and wireless communications technologies and standards, including fiber optics, T1, DS-3, MPLS, cellular / 5G, CDMA, TDMA, VoIP, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, IP networking concepts (subnetting, routing).
The selected candidate will manage all phases of network installation and administration; to research and document communications technologies, topologies, and trends. The selected candidate should be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal and external customers. Proficiency using MS Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. With an excellent working knowledge of LAN, WAN, WAP, Cradle Point / NetCloud, and cabling standards.
Skill Required / Desired Amount of Experience
Experience in data and telecommunications to include installing, testing and inspecting deployed communications systems-Required 5 Years
Experience in Installation, maintain and support of critical, multi-site networks-Required 5 Years
Knowledge of wire-line and wireless, including fiber optics, T1, DS-3, MPLS, cellular technologies, CDMA, TDMA, VoIP, 5G, TCP/IP, UDP,ICMP,IP Networks-Required 5 Years
Working knowledge of networking tools, such as; Fluke Versiv with light meter, netAlly AirCheck G3, netAlly nXG, iperf3, nmap, wireshark, traceroute-Highly desired 2 Years
Intermediate skills in using Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Word, Excel and Visio-Highly desired 1 Years
Experience testing copper and fiber-Required 1 Years
