LTS is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support the coordination with business and technology teams, ascertaining system requirements, such as program functions, output requirements, input data acquisition, and system techniques and controls. The environment is dynamic, and client needs are often evolving; flexibility and forward-thinking views are important for success. This position is 100% onsite, located in Washington, D.C., and is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise network and system architectures that align with organizational goals and mission requirements.
- Define system architecture for complex infrastructure and applications, including data flows, integrations, and connectivity across distributed environments.
- Oversee network configuration, connectivity, and asset management to ensure reliable and efficient operation of enterprise technology solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, developers, product managers, and cybersecurity staff to ensure successful implementation of network and architectural designs.
- Provide technical leadership in planning, deployment, and lifecycle management of enterprise network systems, including LAN/WAN, VPNs, and security infrastructure.
- Monitor advanced performance and capacity metrics, proactively resolving recurring alerts and optimizing throughput, latency, and system responsiveness.
- Conduct in-depth assessments of current environments, identify system bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve performance, scalability, and security posture.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to recommend and implement innovative solutions that enhance system capability and reduce costs.
- Ensure systems meet applicable regulatory and security standards; implement risk mitigation controls and enforce secure design principles throughout the system lifecycle.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation on network designs, components, operational procedures, and configuration baselines.
- Communicate architectural decisions, trade-offs, and technical recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor junior engineers, architects, and operational staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.
- Develop and maintain policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical guidelines to support consistent and secure network operations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through performance analysis, efficiency assessments, and alignment of IT capabilities with evolving business and mission needs.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related scientific or technical discipline AND a minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience or a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional experience in information systems, network engineering, or a related technical field in lieu of a degree.
- Must have an Active TS security clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Certification in Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA), Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) or a higher certification.
- Proven experience designing, configuring, and managing LAN, WAN, WLAN, WWAN, and SD-WAN networks.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco and Palo Alto network solutions, including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Advanced understanding of network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and JUNOS.
- Proficiency in advanced routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) and network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python).
- Familiarity with wireless networking technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi 6, WPA3), VoIP infrastructure, and network traffic optimization.
- Hands-on experience in hybrid cloud environments, including AWS and Azure network services.
- Experience with network analysis and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, and Nagios.
- Solid understanding of network infrastructure hardware including routers, CPUs, and cabling, as well as communication and routing protocols used in business environments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex network issues and design secure, scalable solutions.
- Ability to mentor junior staff, contribute to technical documentation, and support implementation of network and security best practices.
