Summary:
The Information Technology Services division is seeking a skilled and adaptable Project Manager to lead and deliver complex initiatives aligned with institutional priorities. This role is responsible for planning and executing projects in line with deadlines, budgets, and evolving business needs. Success in this position requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, effective risk management, and the ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.
This is a hybrid position with three days per week on-site in Boston.
Education:
Bachelor s or master s degree in computer science, information systems, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Project management certification preferred (e.g., PMP, Agile, PRINCE2)
Experience:
5 7 years of IT experience with a proven record of solving business problems
3+ years managing complex or multiple projects with measurable outcomes
Experience collaborating with both business and technical teams toward shared objectives
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts diplomatically, and build consensus
Proven success in managing scope, timelines, budgets, and quality across concurrent projects
Knowledge and Skills:
In-depth understanding of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid)
Proficient in project tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, and ServiceNow
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on risk mitigation
Excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation abilities
Ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority
High emotional intelligence, adaptability, and a user-focused mindset
Familiarity with financial planning and understanding of cost drivers
Ability to quickly adopt and leverage new technologies
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution:
Analyze project proposals to define scope, schedules, and resource requirements
Lead planning sessions and set achievable project milestones
Select and apply appropriate project management approaches
Guide and motivate teams through all phases of project delivery
Adjust plans to accommodate changing priorities or constraints
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
Build trust and align expectations among business, IT, and vendor partners
Clearly and proactively communicate project goals, timelines, and progress
Facilitate meetings to drive alignment and resolve challenges
Navigate sensitive situations using interpersonal and negotiation skills
Risk, Change & Quality Management:
Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
Monitor progress and ensure quality standards are met
Manage scope changes and technical constraints effectively
Maintain comprehensive project documentation
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess project health
Develop clear, actionable dashboards and reports for leadership
Budget & Resource Management:
Create and manage project budgets and forecasts
Monitor expenditures and ensure alignment with financial targets
Optimize resource allocation based on priorities and skills
Evaluate financial impact of project decisions
