Overview

A Principal Network Engineer is a senior-level technical expert responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability, and interoperability among existing technologies. This role will work with our architecture team and partner with vendors on driving solutions forward. This role will need deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and leadership to drive network reliability and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Network Design & Support: Develop and maintain scalable, high-availability network architectures, including LAN/WAN/Wireless, data centers, and cloud environments.
  • Implementation & Optimization: Lead the deployment of network solutions, optimize performance, and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure network security through firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Mentorship & Leadership: lead engineers, provide technical expertise, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic Planning: Align network strategies with business goals, evaluate emerging technologies, and recommend solutions.
  • Monitoring & Maintenance: Oversee network monitoring, capacity planning, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and policies.
  • This role will need to perform after hours support for critical issues along with traveling to Fairview locations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or combination of equivalent relevant experience and education
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Expertise in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, EIGRP), switching, and network virtualization.
  • Proficiency with network hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc.) and software-defined networking (SDN) ACI
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and hybrid network environments.
  • Knowledge of network security tools (Palo Alto, Cisco, etc.) and monitoring solutions (SolarWinds, KIWI, Wireshark).
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work occasional after-hours support for critical issues
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with global teams.
  • Access to reliable transportation to perform responsibilities at multiple locations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python) for network configuration and management.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies like Network Segmentation, SD-WAN, Zero Trust, or DAS/5G.
  • CCIE, CCNP, JNCIE, or equivalent; cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure)

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions.
