Position: Image Quality Engineer

Location: Mountain View, CA (Note: This position may require short trips to test locations)

Job Summary:

As an Image Quality Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of our camera technologies. Your expertise will help us ensure that our products deliver exceptional image quality by conducting rigorous testing both in the lab and in the field. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive feature development through insightful analysis and feedback.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive tests in both lab settings and field environments to gather image quality datasets critical for camera development.
  • Design and execute objective and subjective experiments with prototype hardware and software to evaluate image quality, performance, and behavior.
  • Analyze results from experiments meticulously and provide constructive feedback to guide the development of hardware features, image signal processing (ISP), and algorithm design and tuning.
  • Document findings through bug filings, detailed reports, and presentations to stakeholders on image quality advancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and product managers, to integrate imaging technologies seamlessly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a testing or development role within a product development organization that delivers consumer-oriented products.
  • Proficient with Camera Image Quality tools and methodologies, including familiarity with Imatest or similar tools.
  • Experience in setting up Camera IQ labs, including test charts, lighting, light panels, and light boxes.
  • A solid understanding of image quality artifacts such as noise, blemishes, and color errors.
  • In-depth knowledge of camera technology, optics, and basic photography principles.
  • Familiarity with Quality Assurance (QA) methodologies and tools.
