Sr Mgr, Software Development (Mobile Application Development)

As the Senior Manager of Software Development (Mobile Application Development), you will be tasked with providing strategic direction and leadership to mobile software engineering teams specializing in the development of Android mobile background and analytics event capturing applications within the Spectrum Device Software Engineering organization. In this role, you will collaborate with product, business stakeholders, technical operations, and other relevant organizations to ensure the effective implementation of mobile applications. Provide career development, managing the support of existing products, and facilitating the deployment of new products. Leveraging your extensive experience in mobile software development, architecture/design, automation, and quality assurance, you will ensure on-time delivery of software deployments and releases with uncompromising quality. This position entails leading multiple teams of highly talented Mobile Software Engineers in an Agile software development environment. Effective communication of periodic project status updates and escalation of issues to senior leadership, product management, and internal development partners is integral to success in this role.

As a Senior Manager of Software Development, you'll be responsible for providing direction and leadership to mobile software engineering teams assigned to develop and maintain Android mobile background and analytics applications. Coordinate and collaborate with product, business stakeholders, technical operations and other organizations as needed to ensure effective implementation of mobile applications as part of the Spectrum Device Software Engineering organization. Accountable for career development, managing the support of existing products and the deployment of new products.

• Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Manage a development team that operates cross-functionally with product, operations, and testing teams to ensure quality and timely delivery of code.
• Provide team support and direction on shifting priorities for new and existing projects as well as enterprise initiatives. Organizes and delegates work as needed.
• Implement software proposals and estimates scope of work.
• Plans for and aligns resources for completion of work.
• Works closely with cross functional teams on resource allocation, budget implications and timeline considerations.
• Escalation point for internal partners to assist in resolving roadblocks and mitigating risks to ensure successful on-time software product delivery.
• Ensures adequate documentation is created.
• Provide input to management regarding technical issues, strategic planning of projects, system operations, and new software development and deployment.
• Develop a collaborative culture that embodies both industry best practices and Charter values.
• Experiment with new technologies to make sure we can scale for the future.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

• Experience:
  • Software Engineering experience - 6+ years
  • Leadership experience - 3+ years

• Education:
  • BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent work experience
• Technical skills:
  • Knowledge of Java, JavaScript or Python and modern software approaches and architectures
• Skills:
  • Knowledge of company products and services
  • Attention to detail and quality with effective problem solving and communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of automation, testing, and code quality
  • Experience leading teams in a Agile/Scrum environment

• Abilities:
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner
  • Ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure

Preferred Qualifications

• Agile software development experience including leading Agile teams, familiarity with Agile ceremonies.
• Previous data analytics software experience
• Knowledge of WiFi and Wireless technologies, architectures and standards.
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery
• Understanding of Test Driven Development (TDD) and an automated testing mindset
• Strong familiarity with software architecture patterns and their application

The pay for this position has a salary range of $110,800.00 to $196,400.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
