Looking for a Technical Writer / Editor (editor/writer/knowledgebase coordinator) to assist in the development and maintenance of a library of procedure-specific, step-by-step Oracle ERP technical training materials.
Your Responsibilities:
· Research step-by-step Oracle ERP technical training topics and write or edit technical processtext related to procedure descriptions, processes, and usage. Synchronize and coordinate a document’s text with other similar topics and match existing brand style guide. Technical resources will be available for the technical writer to work with when creating the technical training content.
· Tag documents with a variety of metadata as appropriate (Oracle search terms, keywords, topic families).
· Work on external-facing technical documentation (i.e., for suppliers) and on internal employee-facing technical documentation.
· Comfortable working on large 300+ page highly technical and procedural documents
· Experience building screen recordings of documented processes for external and internal audiences
· Write at a 6th grade reading level.
· Decide topics to include in the library (or exclude) on an Oracle step-by-step software basis.
· Work in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, as well as a proprietary content management system.
The Enterprise Transformation Group is leading a large-scale Oracle implementation, beginning with the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) module as the foundational system. This initiative requires the development and refinement of comprehensive user documentation tailored to Taylor’s internal processes and branding.
Scope of Work
Documentation Creation & Revision:
Develop and revise approximately 3 user guides (~300 pages each), totaling around 1,200 pages.
Existing content will be leveraged but must be expanded, restructured, and aligned with Taylor’s branding and process standards.
Job Aids:
Create 20–30 multi-page job aids with step-by-step instructions for internal users.
Focus on how Oracle will be used in Taylor-specific workflows.
Collaboration:
Work closely with technical and process SMEs to understand end-to-end workflows and ensure documentation accuracy.
Brand Integration:
Apply Taylor’s 150-page brand style guide to all documentation, ensuring consistency in tone, visuals, and formatting.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience:
Strong background in Oracle ERP systems, particularly in navigating software interfaces and understanding the full ecosystem.
Proven ability to write clear, user-focused documentation for enterprise software.
Skills:
Able to work independently and contribute immediately without requiring leadership responsibilities.
Comfortable applying corporate branding guidelines to technical content.
Audience:
Internal users across departments.
External suppliers/vendors (e.g., raw material providers like paper and ink).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience creating video-based job aids, including:
On-screen recordings with voiceover.
Demonstrations of field entries, navigation, and submission processes.
