Job Title: SQL/VBA Developer
Location: Hybrid to Portland, ME/ Boston, MA and Kansas City, KS

Duration: 6 Months + Extensions (Long-Term)

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to contribute to the development and support of core insurance administration and proposal systems. This role involves enhancing legacy systems using Microsoft Access and VBA, with a strong focus on SQL Server technologies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment. A background in insurance is highly preferred, and due to the sensitivity of data involved, a Tier 2 background check will be required.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively in an agile/scrum environment
  • Participate in reviewing business requirements and contribute to solution design
  • Analyze business and technical problems, and provide efficient solutions
  • Develop accurate work estimates and deliver code on time
  • Partner closely with business and IT teams to ensure alignment on project goals
  • Build robust, usable, and scalable systems using Access/VBA and SQL Server
  • Adhere to coding standards and contribute to the evolution of development processes
  • Provide production support and resolve application issues
  • Understand and support core business processes
  • Maintain thorough documentation of systems and processes
  • Work in a hybrid setting, with flexibility for onsite collaboration


Critical Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in:
  • Microsoft Access / VBA
  • SQL Server
  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Reporting Services (SSRS) preferred
  • Strong understanding of software delivery lifecycles and agile methodologies
  • Proficient in unit testing and QA best practices
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proactive approach to learning and adapting in a dynamic environment
