ASSYST is seeking a skilled PowerBI Developer to support our client in Austin, Texas.
Location: Austin, Texas/ Remote
Job Type: Contract (W2/C2C or 1099)
Position: 100% Remote
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Data Analyst with strong Power BI development skills to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing robust data models, creating interactive dashboards, and crafting compelling data visualizations that drive strategic decisions across the organization. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, leading initiatives, and applying creativity and judgment to solve complex data challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build complex, dimensional data models and compelling Power BI reports from the ground up.
- Translate raw data into intuitive and impactful visual stories through dashboards and interactive reports.
- Develop, test, and deploy Power BI scripts using DAX, M, and Python for advanced analytics.
- Collaborate with business units to identify KPIs, gather reporting requirements, and deliver scalable solutions.
- Independently perform deep analysis and interpret large data sets to generate actionable insights.
- Lead and mentor junior analysts as needed; exercise significant creativity and latitude in problem-solving.
- Participate in the implementation of data governance, version control (Git/BitBucket), and documentation practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience with data analytics and interpretation.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI, creating dashboards and interactive reports.
- Proficient in Power BI scripting languages (DAX, M, Python).
- Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and visualization best practices.
- Proven ability to work independently and lead complex data initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in data-related tasks such as data cleansing, transformation, and warehousing.
- Familiarity with Git/BitBucket for version control and collaborative development.
- Experience working with SAS datasets (.sas7bdat).
- Exposure to Jira for task tracking and project collaboration.
- Previous experience with state government agencies or public sector data.
- Knowledge of or exposure to other BI tools such as SAP and Tableau.
Education:
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
