Senior AI Applications Engineer
About Us
Data and cannabis are both complex; Hoodie Analytics makes them simple. Our SaaS platform delivers comprehensive cannabis market intelligence to dispensaries, brands, and analysts nationwide. With industry-leading data coverage and advanced machine-learning technology, we transform fragmented market signals into clear, actionable insights.
The Role
We’re hiring a Senior AI Applications Engineer to lead the design and development of Hoodie’s next generation of generative-AI capabilities. In this role, you’ll own the architecture, implementation, and deployment of RAG pipelines, intelligent agent workflows, and LLM-powered product features across our analytics ecosystem.
This is a senior individual-contributor role with substantial autonomy and end-to-end ownership. You’ll partner closely with our Head of Engineering to establish foundational AI systems and expand Hoodie’s product capabilities through intelligent automation and data-driven insights.
What You’ll Do
Architecture & Technical Strategy
- Define technical standards and architecture for Hoodie’s generative-AI systems.
- Evaluate and select AI frameworks, vector stores, embedding models, orchestration tools, and observability platforms.
- Establish best practices for retrieval, prompting, model evaluation, and agent orchestration.
Implementation & Deployment
- Build and maintain production-grade RAG pipelines, embeddings, and retrieval logic.
- Develop AI-driven agent workflows using modern automation/orchestration frameworks.
- Integrate LLM-powered features into customer-facing applications and internal systems.
- Deploy and monitor AI features with attention to reliability, latency, observability, and cost effectiveness.
Optimization & Ongoing Improvement
- Diagnose and resolve issues across RAG pipelines, vector databases, workflow engines, and LLM integrations.
- Improve performance through prompt refinement, retrieval tuning, caching, data quality improvements, and system-level optimizations.
- Mentor engineers on AI concepts, architectural patterns, and tooling.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven experience shipping production-grade LLM-powered or agent-based applications.
- Deep understanding of embeddings, vector databases, RAG architectures, and LLM retrieval strategies.
- Strong Python skills; experience with modern development, testing, and packaging practices.
- Solid TypeScript/Node.js proficiency.
- Experience with SQL and modern databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Snowflake, ElasticSearch).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS or similar) and modern MLOps concepts.
- Experience with workflow/agent-automation tools (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex, n8n, Flowise, or similar).
Cannabis-industry experience is a plus, but not required.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and performance incentives.
- Comprehensive health and dental coverage.
- Flexible work arrangements.
- A collaborative, fast-paced environment with real product ownership.
- Opportunities to work with modern AI systems in a rapidly evolving market.
