Job Details

The Displays team is looking for a skilled Display Optical Engineer for the development and qualification of LCD/OLED Displays for Tesla vehicles infotainment system. This individual will be working on LCD/OLED display system development at the component and system level to drive design optimization, serving as a focal point between Studio, Software, Global Supply Management, Supplier Quality, Reliability, Tesla factory, and the display suppliers, managing all activities necessary from initial concept to production to deliver displays into Tesla vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the display suppliers as the primary technical contact window to drive the best optical design and implementation
  • Design and define the display optical system for new projects and validate the display with verifications
  • Build a display optical lab and develop optical metrology to lead the measurement, testing and optical evaluation
  • Identify any visual quality issues and define root cause to provide recommendations to make improvement
  • Lead an internal cross-functional team working with team members having Design ME, EE, FW, and other expertise
  • Perform the necessary measurement / failure analysis and review results from the display vendors, module vendors, and cross-functional groups at Tesla to ensure the performance specifications are met
  • Identify all open engineering issues and drive suppliers to closure in a timely fashion to support project needs
  • Ensure display deliverables are met for engineering builds and initial ramp
  • Address issues from initial ramp and field returns related to displays

Requirements
    • An in-depth understanding of display measurement, color science, performance evaluation, display technologies, display module construction, process development and display electronics systems
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent project management, communications and teamwork skills required
    • Familiar with optical measurement equipment, data acquisition and visualization of insightful results including image quality, lifetime compensation
    • Degree in Electronics, Electronical Engineering, Computer Science or Physics, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in display development and product delivery or equivalent experience

      $150,560 - $273,480/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
