Job Summary:
The Engineering Manager will lead the engineering department in developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes and equipment related to wire and cable production. This role requires a strong focus on process optimization, product quality, cost efficiency, and team leadership. The Engineering Manager acts as a key technical expert and strategic leader, collaborating with production, maintenance, quality, and R&D to support the company's operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of process, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
- Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for wire drawing, stranding, insulating, jacketing, and other cable production operations.
- Oversee capital projects, including new equipment installation, upgrades, and factory layout changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, process efficiency, and adherence to industry standards (e.g., UL, ISO, RoHS).
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM) to improve productivity, reduce waste, and lower production costs.
- Provide technical support to production and maintenance teams for troubleshooting equipment and process issues.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Evaluate and approve technical documentation, engineering drawings, and process instructions.
- Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers for equipment and materials.
- Develop and manage the engineering department budget.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master's preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 7-10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Strong background in wire and cable manufacturing processes (e.g., extrusion, cross-linking, shielding, cabling).
- Proven experience in managing capital projects and continuous improvement programs.
Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and process modeling tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Knowledge of applicable manufacturing and product standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, ASTM).
- Experience with ERP and manufacturing data systems (e.g., SAP, MES).
- Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001.
Work Environment:
- Mix of office and production floor environment.
- Occasional travel to suppliers, customers, or other manufacturing sites may be required
