Position: UX Designer with ADA Specialist
Duration: 6 Months
Work Location: Carson City, NV (100% Onsite)
Local to Carson City Only
Acceptance Criteria:
- Deliverable Standards: All work will be reviewed and accepted by the Deputy Director, Motor Vehicle Information Technology (MVIT) Division.
- Testing and Validation: The Deputy Director, MVIT Division, will ensure the deliverables meet the required standards.
Statement of Work for UX / ADA Specialist:
Introduction:
- Project Overview: Provide website design, authoring, and maintenance experience, including ADA and UX design expertise, to review existing websites for ADA compliance, document remediation requirements, and remediate. During the review, also identify, document, and fix any general webpage deficiencies (e.g., broken links).
- Client: Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, Motor Vehicle Information Technology Division.
- Project Goal: For the DMV websites, increase accessibility, improve user experience, and achieve compliance with ADA regulations.
Scope of Work:
- Specific Tasks: The UX / ADA Specialist will perform ADA compliance related work, including but not limited to:
- Accessibility Audits: Conducting thorough audits of existing digital products or systems, identifying accessibility barriers and potential violations.
- Remediation Plans: Developing detailed plans to address identified accessibility issues, including specific technical fixes and design changes.
- UX Design: Designing accessible user interfaces, ensuring usability for individuals with disabilities, while considering various assistive technologies.
- Testing and Validation: Performing testing and validation to ensure accessibility standards are met, using both automated tools and manual testing methods.
- Documentation and Reporting: Preparing clear and concise reports outlining audit findings, remediation plans, and progress updates.
- Deliverables: The UX / ADA Specialist will deliver reports, design documents, code changes, and training materials, as specified by NV DMV supervisors.
Timeline:
Project Schedule: Project schedules will be developed by the Project Sponsor and UX / ADA Specialist based upon on-going ADA and UX needs within the DMV. One such project is the ADA compliance/remediation effort. As projects complete, and as the DMV continues necessary system enhancements, code modernizations, and end-user experience improvements, it is anticipated that this will be a long-term (if not permanent) engagement.
Required Expertise and Qualifications:
- ADA Expertise: Expertise in ADA compliance, including familiarity with WCAG guidelines and relevant legal frameworks. Expertise and Knowledge of ADA Compliance Tools and Utilities, such as Siteimprove Accessibility, Color Contrast Analyzer (CCA), ACTF, SortSite Desktop, NVDA
- UX Design Skills: Strong UX design skills, including user research, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Technical Skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DotNet ASP/ASPX, and experience with accessibility tools.
