Akkodis currently has an Electrical Project Engineer position with a client located in Victor, NY. This is an onsite position, so the person needs to live within 40 miles of Victor, NY. No C2C or agencies allowed with this position.

Currently seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer who will be a member of the Hardware Solutions Group. This individual will be a key resource creating functional specifications and working with joint development partners to design and release innovative computing hardware product platforms, as well as sustaining existing products. Additionally, work at all levels in the coordination and testing of hardware components and systems targeted to end customers.
Roles and responsibilities will include:
Provide system engineering expertise for new product development. Translate market and customer product requirements into desired functionality and specifications
Design, prepare, perform, and document hardware/software tests on new Point-of-Sale (POS) hardware (systems/subsystems/peripherals)
Lead/direct project teams - Prepare meeting agenda/minutes, assign project tasks, resolve product conflicts (desired features vs. possible), plan budgets, coordinate schedules, draft supplier agreements, and prepare/run presentations to stakeholders
Create and maintain numerous windows based hard drive images (Linux knowledge helpful)
Configure and prepare shipments of hardware systems for customer and prospect evaluation
Create and maintain product documentation, including new part specifications, production procedures, coordination of engineering changes and product end-of-life planning
Foster relationships with domestic and overseas suppliers' engineering and logistic teams via email, engineering documentation, and periodic conference calls
Deal directly with customers via phone calls/email to resolve escalated issues with minimal supplied details. Meet with domestic and international suppliers and interface with entire company organization including leadership team, remote software engineers, and manufacturing associates
Minimum job qualifications for this position include:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering required
Experience in product development in a computing or Information Technology industry
Experience with and understanding of PC architecture and PC peripheral interfaces
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, MS Office applications, and basic mechanical CAD software
Experience with application software development, integration, and support desired
Familiar with lab testing equipment including DVMs, oscilloscopes, and PC-based test utilities
Must be able to write software to perform in-house engineering tasks
Self-directed; ability to prioritize numerous tasks and projects
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Desirable Experience:
Working knowledge of Microsoft deployment tools including WinPE
Experience with Linux and Android operating systems
Device driver installation and functional testing
Mechanical CAD experience
Capability to define technical approaches to product qualification and problem solving
