Position: Messaging Engineer
Duration: 1 year
Location: Remote or Hybrid in New York (must work EST time zone)
Hours: 9:30 AM 5:30 PM EST, 35 hours/week

Role Overview
We are seeking a Messaging Engineer to support day-to-day email and Active Directory operations while providing backup coverage for the current Exchange administrator. This is a hands-on technical role focused on ensuring reliable email services, account management, and messaging security in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Active Directory Administration
- Create, modify, and disable user and service accounts.
- Manage distribution lists and security groups, including membership updates and cleanup.
- Automate account and group management with PowerShell scripts and batch files.
- Exchange & Messaging Support
- Monitor and troubleshoot mail flow, queues, delivery failures, and Outlook connectivity issues.
- Assist with mailbox management, permissions, shared mailboxes, and calendar resources.
- Provide backup coverage for the Exchange administrator to ensure no disruption in service.
- Email Security & Authentication
- Manage Mimecast SEG for email filtering, quarantine review, and policy enforcement.
- Support Duo / SAML authentication troubleshooting and configurations.
- Work with Trellix ePO for endpoint security management and compliance.
- Software Deployment & Server Administration
- Use Ivanti EPM to deploy software, updates, and patches across endpoints.
- Perform basic Windows Server administration related to messaging and identity services.
- Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures, troubleshooting runbooks, and process documentation.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce ticket volume through automation.
Skills & Experience Required
- 5 8 years of experience in enterprise messaging and Active Directory environments.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory administration and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Exchange (on-prem or hybrid) and troubleshooting mail flow.
- Familiarity with Mimecast SEG, Ivanti EPM, and Trellix ePO.
- Basic Windows Server administration skills.
- Strong documentation and communication abilities.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with hybrid Exchange/Office 365 migrations or coexistence.
- Familiarity with enterprise security standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience improving or automating identity/messaging workflows.
