Job Title: Senior Business Systems Analyst I
Location: Hybrid - 3 Days On-Site / 2 Days Remote | Columbia, SC 29223
Work Schedule/Shift: Mon through Fri 8:30am – 5:00pm | Minimum 40 work hours per week, with potential for overtime, off-hours, and weekend work as experience is gained
Duration/Length of Assignment: 12 Month Contract to Hire
Pay Rate: $45.00 per hour

Position Overview:
This role supports a well-established Business Systems Analyst group within a healthcare-focused commercial systems team. The group is composed of a small, highly experienced team of approximately 14 analysts who function as subject matter experts across various domains, including enrollment, eligibility, claims processing, vendor relations, claims settlement, reporting, and data analytics. The team operates in a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment, balancing strong accountability with a supportive and approachable work culture. The Senior Business Systems Analyst I will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams. The role involves ensuring that technical and business solutions align with business objectives and provide measurable value. Candidates will be expected to translate business needs into documented requirements, validate solutions, and support implementation activities while guiding stakeholders through planning, prioritization, and deployment efforts.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field, or 4 years of directly related work experience, or 2 years of related experience with an Associate’s degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum of 6 years of IT business analysis experience
- Experience defining customer needs in both technical and business contexts and ensuring solutions meet objectives
- Strong background eliciting, documenting, validating, and organizing business requirements into logical formats using business analysis models
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.) and familiarity with Windows operating systems
- Experience creating Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), design documentation, and acceptance criteria
- Ability to review problem logs, assist with test plans and test matrices, and validate deployment accuracy
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to explain business solutions, guide both technical and customer stakeholders, and ensure mutual understanding
- Ability to facilitate the transfer of business knowledge to supporting teams and provide input on overall business direction for system changes
- Strong adaptability to work on projects across different systems, with effective time management to handle multiple priorities
- Ability to mentor less experienced analysts
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Experience with data mining tools
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visio
Day to Day/Responsibilities:
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders and project team members via MS Outlook and MS Teams to elicit requirements and ensure alignment with project goals
- Define customer needs in technical and business contexts and ensure proposed solutions meet the objectives of the work effort
- Elicit and document user requirements to meet specific business objectives, validate requirements, and organize them into logical documents such as BRDs and design documentation using Microsoft Word and related tools
- Develop acceptance criteria to validate that requirements are met, and ensure requirements are understood by both stakeholders and technical teams
- Respond to stakeholder questions to explain and reinforce why specific business solutions were chosen, guiding both technical and customer departments through the development of systems
- Support test and deployment efforts by reviewing test plans and test matrices for accuracy, assisting in defect analysis, and triaging issues to appropriate team members
- Research project defects and collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to resolve them efficiently
- Validate business needs for system changes and process improvements, ensuring solutions are aligned with organizational objectives
- Facilitate knowledge transfer about the broader business direction to other supporting teams, ensuring alignment across the organization
- Provide input and recommendations on business direction for system changes and enhancements
- Mentor less experienced analysts within the team by sharing expertise, reviewing work, and guiding them on effective analysis practices
- Contribute to the collaborative and high-expectation culture of the team, balancing independent work with active participation in knowledge sharing and team discussions
