What you'll do...

H&R Block is looking for an experienced IT Leader to lead a high-powered team to build & manage AI/ML engineering platforms. You will be leading an elite team of software & data engineers charged with developing transformative AI/ML capabilities to power the next generation of HRB client experiences. As the manager, you will be responsible for developing, planning, and managing the activities to build & operate this platform.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Lead a group of rock-star software & data engineers to form a high-performing team
  • Work closely with Product leaders and AI/ML teams to build roadmaps, prioritize projects, build, deploy & manage platforms & capabilities used by AI/ML and engineering squads.
  • Develop the technology strategy and desired outcomes aligned to the strategic objectives of the business.
  • Work in partnership with business leaders to obtain and commit necessary resources at the appropriate time, level, and expertise to support the business goals.
  • Deliver projects on time and on budget with superior quality.
  • Coordinate all activities with, and report regularly to senior leadership teams.
  • Monitor and mitigate project, program, and operational execution risks.
  • Provide oversight to teams of individuals from cross functional teams, as well as vendors to accomplish program outcomes.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with hyperscale cloud providers & other providers of leading edge GenAI services.

What you'll bring to the team...

      • 8 years of experience building technology platforms & solutions.
  • 3+ years of people management & leadership experience.
  • 6 years of project management experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with .Net, Python & Azure platforms & services.
  • 2+ years of experience with full lifecycle of AI/ML models & solutions - from development to testing, deployment & monitoring
  • 1+ years of experience building AI/ML platforms & solutions.
  • Experience leading development teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of establishing priorities and delivering business results.
  • Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong presentation and facilitation skills to communicate with and persuade a wide range of audiences.

It would be even better if you also had...

  • Program management experience leading very large, mission-critical programs that involve significant business change.
  • Experience developing and managing program budgets.
