Job Description:
Pay Range: $60hr - $65hr
- The MicroStrategy Administrator will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and maintaining MicroStrategy environments to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- This role involves environment management, system monitoring, automation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support large-scale business intelligence operations.
- Install, configure, and maintain MicroStrategy Intelligence Server, Web, Mobile, and Developer environments.
- Manage upgrades, patches, and version migrations with minimal downtime.
- Monitor system health, performance, and capacity planning.
- Design and implement authentication and authorization solutions (LDAP, SSO, Kerberos).
- Manage user roles, groups, and privileges, enforcing governance and access control policies.
- Tune Intelligence Server, database connections, and report execution performance.
- Analyze bottlenecks and optimize SQL queries, caching strategies, and cubes.
- Implement clustering and load balancing for high availability.
- Develop scripts and tools for automation of environment management, backup, deployment, and monitoring.
- Integrate with scheduling and monitoring tools such as Control-M or Jenkins.
- Create dashboards for monitoring platform health and usage metrics.
- Collaborate with BI developers, DBAs, and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable data delivery.
- Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Document configurations, processes, and operational guidelines.
- Expertise in MicroStrategy environment management, including Intelligence Server, Web, Mobile, and Developer.
- Strong understanding of authentication and security protocols (LDAP, SSO, Kerberos).
- Experience in tuning and optimizing BI performance and SQL queries.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting (Python, Shell, or PowerShell).
- Familiarity with high availability setups such as clustering and load balancing.
- 12+ years of total IT experience with at least 8 years in MicroStrategy Administration.
- Proven experience managing large-scale BI environments (multi-cluster, 1000+ users).
- Experience with AWS or Azure cloud deployments and CI/CD pipelines preferred.
- Exposure to retail domain or hybrid analytics environments is a plus.
- MicroStrategy (10.x / 11.x / 2021+), Intelligence Server, Command Manager, Enterprise Manager, Developer, Web, and Mobile.
- Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, Snowflake, or equivalent.
- Operating Systems: Linux and Windows Server.
- Integration: LDAP/AD, SSO (SAML/OAuth), and web server integration (Apache/Tomcat/IIS).
- Monitoring Tools: AppDynamics, Splunk, or equivalent.
- Cloud: AWS/Azure exposure.
- Additional: Understanding of DevOps, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud-native BI deployments.
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- MicroStrategy certification (MCE / MCSA) preferred.
- Experience with data modeling and schema design.
- Exposure to Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik for hybrid analytics environments.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
