Job Title: Databricks Technical Lead
Pay Rate: $90/hour
Location: Hybrid – Cincinnati, OH or Charlotte, NC (in-office 4 days/week preferred)
Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens or Green Card holders only (no sponsorship available)
Duration: Long-term contract (3+ years of work forecasted)
Prescreening: 5 behavioral-based video interview questions + gamified assessment
Interview Availability: Hiring manager has interview blocks scheduled next Tuesday–Thursday


Job Summary:
We are seeking a Databricks Technical Lead to take ownership of the architecture, implementation, and leadership of a newly established HR data platform. This team is in the early stages of building data domains following a recent migration from Azure to Databricks. The ideal candidate is certified in Databricks, experienced in building medallion architectures (bronze/silver/gold), and capable of leading global delivery teams while collaborating cross-functionally in a product-driven, agile environment.

This is a high-impact role with strategic visibility, long-term contract potential, and direct involvement in defining scalable, secure, and future-ready data engineering solutions.


Top Skills Required:

  • Databricks Certified with 3+ years in a technical leadership role

  • Strong Python programming for data engineering and API development

  • Proven experience in HR data or enterprise data domains


Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement scalable bronze/silver/gold data pipelines within Azure Databricks

  • Lead the migration from Azure SQL to Databricks, ensuring optimal performance and security

  • Guide distributed Agile teams across time zones, overseeing technical delivery and best practices

  • Develop and manage RESTful APIs, ensuring secure, real-time access to critical datasets

  • Implement RBAC, encryption protocols, pipeline health monitoring, and governance tooling

  • Utilize Terraform and CI/CD for infrastructure automation and deployment consistency

  • Collaborate with product managers, security teams, and business stakeholders to align solutions with strategic goals

  • Own the architecture of the HR data domain, ensuring compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle HCM or HR analytics and data lake integrations

  • Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Data Factory (ADF), and Delta Lake

  • Exposure to GraphQL/gRPC, Azure API Management, and event-driven architectures

  • Background with Informatica PowerCenter or Informatica IICS

  • Strong problem-solving skills in performance tuning, data security, and cost optimization


Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication with the ability to lead, mentor, and hold teams accountable

  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional dependencies across onshore/offshore teams

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, transparent, Agile product delivery model
