Job Details
Join a global automotive leader as a Fabrication Technician on a team dedicated to research and development activities. As an R&D Fabrication Technician, you will perform aircraft assembly, maintenance, modification, and repair work, and provide hands-on support for flight testing operations.
This position requires onsite work for hands on work, and work overtime as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Proven knowledge and experience in the fabrication and repair of CFRP and GFRP aircraft components, with the ability to carry out work to a high standard.
- Participation in flight testing activities, with responsibility for recording completed work and maintaining full traceability of parts and processes.
- A solid understanding of aircraft manufacturing processes and the ability to perform maintenance tasks.
- Participation in flight testing activities, with responsibility for recording completed work and maintaining full traceability of parts and processes.
- Collaborating with all related engineering teams on technical matters.
- Coordinate with engineer to execute engineering work orders, including hands-on work in fabricating, processing, and testing aircraft
- Documenting completed work in maintenance reports for aircraft certification.
- Installation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment for aircraft.
Required Skillset -
- 5+ years of experience
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate is a must.
- Previous flight operation support.
- Aircraft repair and modification experience.
- Experience in prototype fabricating in a professional environment.
- General knowledge of aircraft structure
- General knowledge of aircraft electrical systems
- General knowledge of OSHA safety, machining and welding
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- General knowledge of composite material fabrication and repair
- A solid understanding of aircraft manufacturing processes and the ability to perform maintenance tasks.
- Proven knowledge and experience in the fabrication and repair of CFRP and GFRP aircraft components, with the ability to carry out work to a high standard.
- Must work safely and professionally while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, & Federal Regulations).
Bonus Skillset:
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as CATIA
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Teamcenter
