Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled AWS Cloud Engineer to manage, support, and enhance our cloud-based infrastructure in the Oil & Gas domain. The role focuses on hands-on implementation, automation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of AWS environments that support field data collection, real-time monitoring, analytics, and enterprise applications. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, enjoys solving operational challenges, and thrives in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Cloud Operations & Support

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain AWS infrastructure components (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch).
  • Support cloud-based applications used for drilling data, production monitoring, and asset management.
  • Troubleshoot system and application issues related to AWS services and networking.
  • Perform daily operational checks, backups, and incident response to maintain uptime and reliability.

Automation & Deployment

  • Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to provision and manage infrastructure.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines for code and infrastructure deployments using AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Automate recurring tasks such as patching, scaling, and environment creation using scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Monitoring & Optimization

  • Monitor cloud resources, performance, and costs using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Cost Explorer.
  • Optimize compute, storage, and network configurations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain system logs, metrics, and alerts for proactive issue detection.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement AWS IAM roles, security groups, and policies in compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Ensure data protection, encryption, and access control across all environments.
  • Support regular security audits and vulnerability remediation.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with Data Engineers, OT (Operational Technology), and Application Support teams.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 cloud infrastructure support and assist in on-call rotations.
  • Maintain documentation for deployments, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2 4 years of hands-on experience managing AWS environments in production.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, Lambda, RDS).
  • Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, ECS, or EKS).
  • Understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, VPNs, Direct Connect).
  • Strong troubleshooting and operational problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have):

  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas systems or industrial IoT (e.g., SCADA, sensor data, WITSML).
  • Exposure to monitoring tools like Grafana, Datadog, or ELK Stack.
  • Familiarity with hybrid or edge deployments in field environments.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows Server administration.
