Job Description:

  • Under general supervision of the Information Systems Business Intelligence Deputy Director and the Information Systems Business Intelligence Coordinator, the Business Intelligence Analyst (BIA) provides technical and analytic support to evaluate data, collate findings relevant to the business, and share them in a manner that can bring about effective change in process, workflow, and overall operations. This role requires experience with leading process assessments, analyzing large, complex, and varied data sets, using modern analytical tools to create reports, visualizations, and other artifacts to inform decision-making within the data management & analytics areas.
  • The Business Intelligence Analyst will assist ACH in making sense of the vast volumes of data within the SHIE (Social Health Information Exchange) and other data assets. This role will assist ACH in streamlining processes and staying ahead of industry trends. A key overarching objective of this role is to transform data into insights that can help to improve the value to both internal and external customers served by ACH.
  • This position will provide support to ACH IS Business Intelligence team in areas of knowledge management, technical project management and overall content organization and management. Additionally, this position will perform and/or participate in a variety of moderate to complex research studies, data analysis, metrics reporting, facilitation and training, and assessment related to department performance and strategic planning; design, develop, appraise, and conduct orientation for existing and prospective new programs and service offerings (internal and external) and execute various other administrative assignments of varying complexity as assigned.

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compiling data regarding various challenges and offering remedies that improve the operation of processes and systems
  • Analyzing business requirements and processes and recommending them to management for implementation
  • Creating and maintaining documentation that includes the design, requirements and training materials for the organization.
  • Write specifications, develop visualization concepts, artifact and contribute to BI roadmap
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand their specific reporting needs and requirements, and develop using the Microsoft PowerBI platform
  • Collaborate with data architect and data engineer team to identify key cross-sector data, data cleansing and completeness processes for source systems
  • Support ACH IS Business Intelligence team in data analysis and reporting services design, development, management, maintenance, and program coordination in relation to ACH SHIE (Social Data Health Information Exchange) data & analytics service fulfillment to intra-agency and external customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the classification.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, equivalent technical field from an accredited college or university
  • 2 plus year of experience in Health Care, Public Sector or related informatics field, performance management, or analysis with strong database SQL skills
  • 1 plus year of experience with PowerBI for dashboard development required.
  • 2 plus years of experience with leading processes analyzing large, complex, and varied data sets, using current analytical tools to create reports, visualizations, other artifacts to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to write intermediate/advanced queries using SQL preferred
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake, SQL database concepts preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required/Preferred:

  • Critical thinker with strong analytic modeling and technical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interfacing effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels within the organization
  • Experience preferred with analytics tools/capabilities including SQL, SQL DB, Snowflake, PowerBI, Data Structure Algorithms and use of Python, R, and DAX language.
