Job Details

Title: Rail Datacenter Systems Engineer.
Location: San Francisco, CA
Rate: Best of market
Job Description:
1. Provide expert-level support for Linux and Windows-based systems in the datacenter environment, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
2. Manage and maintain VMware virtual environments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
3. Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud services and platforms to support the company's infrastructure and applications.
4. Monitor and maintain datacenter power systems, including UPS, generators, PDU, and HVAC systems, to ensure uninterrupted operation and adherence to environmental standards.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Network Engineers, Software Developers, and OT Operations, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of datacenter systems with business objectives.
6. Implement automation and scripting solutions to streamline routine tasks, enhance operational efficiency, and minimize downtime.
7. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as firmware updates, patch management, system backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing to maintain system integrity and compliance with security policies and standards.
8. Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
9. Stay up to date with emerging technologies, best practices, and industry trends related to datacenter infrastructure, cloud computing, and virtualization.
10. Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures, network diagrams, and configuration guidelines, to ensure accurate and up-to-date information for support and maintenance activities.
11. Respond to system alerts and incidents, troubleshoot technical issues, and coordinate with vendors or service providers to ensure 24/7 availability and support of datacenter operations.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in datacenter operations, with a focus on power systems management, and Linux systems support.
3. Strong knowledge of datacenter power distribution systems, including UPS, PDUs, and backup generators, and experience with capacity planning and energy efficiency measures.
4. Expertise in Linux systems administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers running various distributions, as well as shell scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible).
5. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and implement effective solutions under pressure.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
7.Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, MCSE, VCP, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator) are a plus.
