Job Details

OpenStack Administrator to join the IT Corps team. The role involves designing, deploying, managing, and troubleshooting OpenStack cloud infrastructure to support critical R&D lab environments. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance across bare metal, virtualization, and containerized environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and manage OpenStack environments (manual and automated) using Ansible, Fuel, and Kolla.
  • Administer and maintain OpenStack core services: Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone, Swift, Heat, Ceilometer.
  • Manage multi-tenant cloud environments including quotas, networks, and security groups.
  • Perform upgrades and migrations across OpenStack releases (e.g., Kilo Liberty Mitaka).
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning with Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet.
  • Support bare metal provisioning and virtualization using KVM, VMware ESXi.
  • Provision and manage storage backends such as Ceph, Cinder volumes, and Swift.
  • Ensure compliance and secure access through RBAC and Keystone policies.
  • Integrate OpenStack with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, Maven.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot services using Nagios and perform log analysis for fault isolation.
  • Mentor and guide the engineering labs team to build broader skillset coverage.

Required Technical Skills

  • Proven hands-on experience managing OpenStack environments (bare metal and automated).
  • Strong knowledge of Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, and Solaris operating systems.
  • Cloud & Virtualization expertise: OpenStack, VMware ESXi, KVM, Docker, Kubernetes (optional), OpenShift.
  • Automation & DevOps: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, Jenkins, Git, Maven, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Networking: VLANs, routers, subnets, floating IPs, Neutron services, and SDN integration.
  • Storage: Ceph, Cinder, Swift, snapshots, backups, and restores.
  • Programming & Scripting: Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl, C/C++.
  • Monitoring & Testing: Nagios or equivalent tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified OpenStack Administrator (COA) or equivalent certification.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and fault isolation skills.
  • Experience working with global teams across NAM and IST time zones.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
