Overview:
A public sector organization is seeking a Data Engineer to support ongoing analytics initiatives tied to a large-scale platform. The consultant will be part of the Enterprise Analytics and Data Services team and will be responsible for supporting high-volume data extract requests, designing and developing data marts, and ensuring knowledge transfer to internal teams.
This role requires expertise in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, data modeling, and analytical programming, as well as a strong understanding of business processes related to pensions, health insurance, customer service, finance, and risk. The consultant will contribute to ensuring timely delivery of critical business data that supports compliance, operations, and public reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
< class="" data-start="1154" data-end="1195">Ad Hoc Business Data Fulfillment</>Fulfill a high volume (70 80 per month) of one-time, ad hoc business data requests.
Use advanced SQL and PL/SQL to extract data from complex relational models comprising over 2,000 transactional tables and over 130 warehouse tables.
Meet a strict 10-day service level agreement for request completion.
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of delivered data extracts for internal business divisions, public records, legal obligations, audits, and external reporting.
Collaborate with stakeholders to design data marts that support recurring analytics and reporting needs related to pension data.
Develop data models and write code to automate data refreshes.
Oversee integration of refresh processes into the existing ETL pipeline.
Ensure final validation and acceptance of data marts through structured review phases.
Support structured knowledge sharing via established workflows including ServiceNow, internal data request routing, and secure data delivery via data lockers.
Create and maintain documentation, including SQL scripts, technical details, and issue logs.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure long-term sustainability and support for delivered solutions.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and developing analytical models, tools, or programs using Oracle tools.
Minimum of 5 years of experience interpreting business data requirements and developing complex SQL and PL/SQL code.
Proven ability to apply logical and creative problem-solving techniques to analyze complex data, visualize results, and develop actionable insights.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working in at least one of the following domains: Pension, Health Insurance, Customer Service, Finance, or Risk.
Additional Information:
Workload is expected to mirror historical levels, with over 850 business data requests fulfilled annually.
The consultant's work directly impacts regulatory compliance, public reporting, and the operational performance of the organization.
Due to the ad hoc nature and volume of requests, this role requires high adaptability, accuracy under pressure, and timely delivery.
