Job Details

ob Summary:

The Solutions Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing technology solutions tailored to the unique needs of forensic science applications entailing all forensic services provided by the CLIENT. This role involves collaborating with forensic scientists, forensic executives, law enforcement, and development teams to create scalable, secure, and efficient systems that support forensic analysis, evidence management, and data-driven investigations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for advancing forensic science through technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Design: Develop and architect end-to-end technical solutions for forensic science applications, including Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), evidence tracking, data analytics platforms, and digital forensics.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with forensic scientists, forensic executives, and law enforcement to gather requirements, translate needs into technical specifications, and ensure solutions align with industry standards and regulations (e.g., New York State Commission on Forensic Science, ANAB, ISO 17025/17020 and supplemental requirements).

System Integration: Design and implement integrations between existing and future forensic systems, databases, and third-party tools to ensure seamless workflows and data interoperability (e.g., Paperless LIMS).

Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance to development teams, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance in high-stakes forensic environments.

Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies in the fields of forensics and AI, machine learning, and blockchain and assess their applicability to forensic science.

Compliance and Security: Ensure solutions comply with data integrity standards, chain-of-custody requirements, and cybersecurity best practices (e.g., NIST 800-53).

Prototyping and Testing: Create prototypes, conduct proof-of-concept demonstrations, and collaborate with quality assurance teams as well as the end user to validate solution performance and reliability.

Documentation and Training: Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and training materials to support implementation and adoption of solutions by forensic professionals.

Project Management: Partner with project managers to develop timelines, manage scope, track milestones, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring successful deployment of solutions in support of maintaining accreditation.

Qualifications:

Education:

o bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, CISSP) preferred.

Experience:

o 5+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect, Systems Engineer, or similar role.

o Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their application in secure, high-availability environments.

Technical Skills:

o Proficiency in software architecture design, including microservices, APIs, and database management (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).

o Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, encryption, and secure data storage for sensitive forensic data.

o Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#) and integration tools (e.g., REST, SOAP, middleware).

Soft Skills:

o Exceptional communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders, including forensic scientists and law enforcement personnel.

o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges in forensic workflows.

o Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Preferred Qualifications, Experience, and Domain Knowledge [ IMPORTANT]

o 2 years of experience in forensic science, criminal justice, or a related field.

o Proven experience designing and implementing complex systems, such as LIMS, digital forensics tools, or evidence management platforms.

o Demonstrated experience applying hybrid project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, or Scrum)

o Familiarity with forensic science technologies, such as LIMS, ADAMS, CrimePad, QualTrax, and testing equipment software.

o Experience with AI/ML applications in forensic science (e.g., pattern recognition, predictive analytics). Background in cybersecurity or blockchain for secure evidence tracking.

o Prior work with government or law enforcement agencies on forensic technology projects.

o Understanding of forensic science processes, including evidence collection, chain of custody, and laboratory workflows.

o Familiarity with forensic standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 17025/17020, ANAB, OSAC, SWGDAM, NIST).
