Duties:

Position Overview: (Major Functions and Non-Essential Functions): We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build back-end services that support our portfolio of data-centric clinical and analytic applications. These applications leverage cloud computing, big data, mobile, data science, data warehousing, machine learning using state of the art software development applications and frameworks. Our Software Engineers ensures that these cloud-based micro-services adhere to uptime and accuracy targets, are resilient, and scale as data volumes and traffic increase. They work closely with the data engineering, platform, and solutions teams to develop applications as required to benefit our practice and patients.

  • Works closely with the Product Owners, Product Managers, Architects to translate requirements into code.
  • Developing services around data warehousing, big data, cloud computing, business intelligence, analytics and machine learning.
  • Participate in DevOps, Agile, continuous development and integration frameworks.
  • Programming in high-level languages such as Go, Python, Java etc.
  • Ensure all appropriate documentation of processes and source code is created and maintained.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, leaders, and customers throughout the organization.
  • Participate in expert level troubleshooting and resolve problems through root cause analysis, data and system investigation.
  • Contributes to design and architecture discussions with Principals and Architects.
  • Leads targeted cross-functional improvement efforts and mentors more junior software engineers.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance. You may lead projects or project steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • master's degree in computer science/Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud-based services.
  • Experience writing software for the cloud (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).
  • Experience in databases, analytics, big data systems or business intelligence products.
  • Experience building high-performance, highly available and scalable distributed systems.
  • Experience developing software for healthcare related industries.

Education: Minimum Education and/or Experience Required: (Education Requirements and Experience):Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience as noted below; OR an Associate's degree in Computer/Science/Engineering or related field with 7 years of experience.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of software engineering with experience coding applications or services in a high-level language (C, C++, Golang, Java, C# etc.) and a basic knowledge of related fields.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills.
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude for designing and implementing software solutions.
  • Experience with modern application development frameworks Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Agile software development techniques.
Goals, Objectives, and Scope of Work

The Cardiology Systems unit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer that can provide on-demand incident resolution and support maintenance requirements. The awardee will work closely with the Mayo team to develop and implement a comprehensive solution that will address the following areas:

On-Demand incident management
o Resolution: Address the concerns from the requestor assuring the system is functioning as required.
o Content management: Assurance the Knowledgebase articles accurately reflect the appropriate actions for resolution
o Provide review metrics: Recognize patterns and provide details to the system engineers of common occurrences for evaluation and reduction.

System Upgrade and Security modifications
o Vended Solution upgrade: Work with various proponents to address system upgrades required to support the practice and assure the software remains supported by the vendor
o Security modifications: Address security concerns to address the protection of our patients. Mayo Clinic is trusted by our patients to ensure their information is safe and secure.
o Environment Upgrades: Servers, networks, and configuration with other solutions require maintenance to assure the software is not impaired.

Maintenance management.
The practice of healthcare is ever changing and requires minor improvements to the software. Changes are expected; to assure the correct work is being addressed all requests are processed through an Intake process where they are reviewed and prioritized. Once approved, the systems engineers will direct the changes, and the Echo Liaisons will verify the solution.
o Minor enhancements: Implement the appropriately designed solutions as requested.
o Issue fixes: Occasionally the software incorrectly performs and will require an update. All fixes will be vetted through the software engineers, implemented, and verified by the Echo Liaisons.
Staffing Plan
Resource to be based in the US and available for engagement during business hours of 8.00am to 5.00pm in the U.S Central time zone.
Skills Desired

Proficient with ServiceNow and Microsoft SharePoint
Proficient in developing using REACT, C#, and JavaScript
Strong understanding of Java
Proficient in vended solution installation, upgrades, and associated configuration
Skilled in developing user friendly interfaces
Full understanding of development lifecycle
Excellent problem-solving skills

Pay rate: $70/hr on W2.
