Job Duties

Direct and manage the Commonwealth's IT infrastructure operations, including data centers, servers, networks, and cloud environments
Lead and mentor a team of technical specialists, system administrators, and engineers
Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the Commonwealth's technology roadmap
Establish and maintain service level agreements, operational metrics, and performance standards
Oversee budget planning and resource allocation for infrastructure operations
Collaborate with agency leadership to identify technology needs and implement appropriate solutions
Manage vendor relationships and technology procurement processes
Implement best practices for infrastructure management, availability, and disaster recovery
Partner with the Information Security Office to ensure infrastructure security and compliance
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and technology modernization efforts
Serve as a key member of the IT leadership team, providing expertise and guidance

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure management
Minimum 3-5 years of experience leading technical teams in a complex environment
Demonstrated experience with enterprise infrastructure technologies (servers, storage, networks, cloud)
Strong understanding of IT service management principles and framework
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to develop and implement strategic technology initiatives

Additional Considerations

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent experience
Master's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field
Experience working in government or public sector environments
Knowledge of Virginia state government operations and IT landscape
Familiarity with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
Professional certifications (ITIL, PMP, technical certifications)
Experience managing large-scale IT transformation or modernization projects
Understanding of procurement processes in government settings
