Job Description

The Associate Software Engineer supports the selection, design, and implementation of critical components of technology to support Marriott International's consumer first strategy. This role will assist in integrating and advancing our technology platforms in alignment with our core business objectives and technical architecture.

This role receives work direction from senior technical leaders to deliver projects to successful completion, while maintaining scope within the time and budget constraints. In addition, it is expected that this role provides innovative and creative insights to solutions. The Associate Software Engineer will be leveraged to support implementation and testing as needed.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

2+ years of experience in software development.

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification.

Working knowledge of API, Microservices, Webservices, Rest APIs, and Cloud native technologies.

Experience with application development involving Java, Python, Springboot, and databases.

Capable of performing requirement analysis and high-level solution design.

Experience working in an agile development environment.

Preferred:

Technology certifications

Experience in Agile methodologies

Experience with service provider environment

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.

Delivers assigned projects as expected

Participates in requirements and code reviews

Complies with defined development and business case processes

Coordinates with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams as assigned

May provide consultation for routine systems development

Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities

IT Governance

Follows all defined IT standards and processes (i.e. IT Governance, SM&G, Architecture, SDLC, etc.), and provides input for improvements to the appropriate process owners as needed

Maintains a proper balance between business and operational risk

Follows the defined project management standards and processe

Service Provider Management

May provide input to estimates of work effort

Assists in facilitation of timely resolution of service delivery problems to minimize the impact to clients
