Job Details
Role: Azure Cloud Architect Location: Richmond, VA Duration: Long Term
ABOUT THE ROLE / DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise the agency on Azure architecture and security concerns, including in-place migrations and refactoring.
- Provide recommendations on lift-and-shift migrations and on-premise to cloud-native modernization.
- Recommend refactoring approaches within the Azure environment.
- Conduct testing in Azure to demonstrate MVP (minimum viable product) for proposed architectures.
- Understand offerings from COV, MSI, and other connected parties for solution alignment.
- Configure Azure services to support agency-level objectives (primarily Azure-based configurations).
- Must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Strong knowledge of cloud fundamentals (5+ years).
- Experience with single and multi-cloud strategies and their implications (5+ years).
- Hands-on experience designing end-to-end cloud solutions that meet business requirements (5+ years).
- Strong background in Azure network and storage architectures (5+ years).
- Expertise in Azure services such as Azure Key Vault, Entra ID, etc. (5+ years).
- Experience with Azure Functions, App Services/Web Apps, containers, microservices, and serverless architecture (5+ years).
- Strong understanding of cloud security principles: zero trust, network segmentation, JIT access, conditional access, etc. (5+ years).
- Experience designing solutions that meet RPO/RTO availability objectives in Azure (5+ years).
- Strong documentation skills: position papers, architecture documentation, and technical writing (5+ years).
- Experience managing cloud security posture, vulnerability remediation, perimeter defense, and encryption in transit/at rest (5+ years).
- Knowledge of DevOps tools including Azure DevOps and GitHub Enterprise Cloud (5+ years).
- Experience with data storage technologies: SQL Server, Oracle, and non-relational stores like Cosmos DB (5+ years).
- Experience working as an on-premise architect (5+ years).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and business teams.
