Job Title: Kubernetes Platform Engineer

Location: Rosemead, CA (East Los Angeles) Hybrid, 1 2 days onsite per week

Duration: 12-Month Contract (Extension Highly Likely)

Rate: $50/hr W2

Client: A Leading Utility Company (Client name will be disclosed after resume submission)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Kubernetes Platform Engineer to join a mission-critical team managing scalable and secure containerized platforms. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting production-grade Kubernetes environments, implementing HA strategies, optimizing performance, and collaborating across development, operations, and security teams to ensure high reliability and secure DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Administer and support containerization platforms (primarily Kubernetes) and related GE technologies.

Maintain High Availability (HA), redundancy, and failover mechanisms across platforms.

Apply patches and upgrades to Kubernetes clusters and workloads with minimal disruption.

Manage version control for containers and applications across dev/test/prod environments.

Create and manage monitoring dashboards using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.

Ensure platform observability and performance tracking with logging tools like Fluentd, Elasticsearch, etc.

Collaborate with DevOps, SecOps, and Dev teams to build secure, reliable CI/CD workflows.

Act as Kubernetes SME, assisting with architectural discussions and system troubleshooting.

Maintain detailed documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.

Provide Tier 2/3 support for outages and performance degradation in production.

Required Qualifications:

Strong hands-on experience administering Kubernetes in production environments.

Deep understanding of HA, failover, and redundancy design principles for containerized systems.

Experience with monitoring/logging tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Fluentd, etc.

Proven skills in patch management and lifecycle automation for workloads.

Familiar with container/application version control practices.

Proficient in Linux system administration.

Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across distributed platforms.

Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools: Helm, Terraform, Ansible is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications: CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator), CKAD, or similar.

Prior experience in regulated or security-sensitive industries.

Familiarity with GE technology stack or ecosystems is highly desirable.
