Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee infrastructure projects focused on Linux server environments and SQL databases in Calgary, Alberta. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex IT infrastructure projects across enterprise environments, ensuring systems stability, scalability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end project execution for Linux server infrastructure upgrades, SQL database migrations, and platform modernization initiatives.
  • Define project scope, develop schedules, set milestones, allocate resources, and manage budgets.
  • Collaborate closely with Linux system administrators, database administrators (DBAs), cloud teams, and security teams.
  • Oversee infrastructure refreshes, server consolidations, and system optimizations.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans to ensure minimal impact to business operations.
  • Drive stakeholder communication, provide regular project status reporting, and manage escalations when necessary.
  • Ensure all project activities adhere to IT governance, security, and compliance standards.
  • Manage vendor engagements for hardware, software, and support services.
  • Coordinate system testing, validation, and cutover plans during infrastructure changes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of Project Management experience leading IT infrastructure projects.
  • Hands-on experience managing projects involving Linux environments (Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS) and SQL databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of server, storage, and database technologies and infrastructure operations.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools like MS Project, ServiceNow, or JIRA.
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and change management best practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • PMP Certification or Agile Certification (CSM, PMI-ACP).
  • Experience with cloud migrations (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) involving Linux/SQL workloads.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) is a plus.
  • Previous experience working in enterprise or highly regulated environments (e.g., financial services, healthcare, energy).
