Job Details

We are launching people to the Moon and Mars. If you want to be part of this amazing mission and enjoy working in a great team environment, we would love to have you as part of our team that is making history, today. It takes big ideas and determination to take NASA's vision and make it reality. That's what we do every day.

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

The Environmental Control Systems (ECS) group supports the Spaceflight Processing Department's engineering function. They operate
air and GN2 flow systems to control the environment inside the Space Launch System vehicles, including the Core Stage, Upper Stage,
and Orion Crew Module. ECS is responsible for maintaining all the ground equipment required to support the Vehicle during
processing operations at multiple facilities across the Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex.

Engineering Responsibilities:
Generate and coordinate maintenance activities, including special testing procedures required to maintain equipment and systems
within operating parameters.
Conduct system testing, troubleshoot equipment failures and analyze data, technical drawings, and schematics to resolve anomalies
and provide written corrective action.
Attain intensive system certifications for remote and console-based operations, required for supporting the ECS console in the firing
room during launch operations.
Duties include technical oversight of new installations and construction activities to validate compliance with contract documents,
particularly in the field of HVAC systems to assure ASHRAE codes are being adhered to.
Create and execute component and subsystem level verification and validation plans to ensure performance to requirements.
Depending on the project type, this can vary from conceptual design to revisions to existing designs and modifications to existing
structures or Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
Interface with client representatives and manage completion of tasks on schedule and within budget to the customer's satisfaction.
Assure that facilities operate in a safe and appropriate manner and comply with all federal, state and local codes/regulations.
Off-shift and weekend work will be regularly required during peak vehicle processing support operations

Degree Qualifications:
BS degree in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, or a related engineering/science field from an ABET
accredited engineering school.

Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Experience with HVAC/R Equipment design, operations, and development
Mechanical or electrical component troubleshooting and root cause investigations
Experience with refrigerant systems and vacuum systems
Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC (RS Logix 5000. PLC/5, Factory Talk View, etc.)
HVAC/R Equipment inspection and testing experience is desirable ("Universal Technician" as Required by 40 CFR,
Part 82, Subpart F Certification)
Experience with facility sized pumps, blowers, condensers, and pressure vessels
Hands-on mechanical experience, including machine shop work, car restoration, hobbies, etc.
Writing work instructions including non-conformance troubleshooting and resolution
Familiarity with Maximo and Solumina Software
