Job Description Senior AWS DevOps Engineer (10+ Years Experience)

Location- Boston, MA

Contract- 24 Months (W2)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AWS DevOps Engineer with over 10 years of experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure and DevOps solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS services, CI/CD automation, container orchestration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and system reliability engineering.


Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure (AWS):

    • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-optimized AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, CloudWatch, IAM, etc.).

    • Manage containerized environments using Kubernetes (EKS) and Docker.

    • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stack.

  • DevOps & Automation:

    • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins / GitHub Actions / GitLab CI / AWS CodePipeline.

    • Automate infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.

    • Develop scripts and automation tools using Python, Bash, or Go.

  • Security & Compliance:

    • Implement security best practices in AWS (IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, WAF, Security Groups, etc.).

    • Conduct vulnerability scanning, patch management, and compliance checks (CIS Benchmarks, SOC2, GDPR, HIPAA).

  • System Reliability & Operations:

    • Optimize application performance, availability, and scalability.

    • Perform disaster recovery planning, backup, and failover strategies.

    • Troubleshoot production issues, root cause analysis, and provide long-term fixes.

  • Collaboration & Leadership:

    • Work with cross-functional teams (Dev, QA, Security, Infra) to ensure smooth software delivery.

    • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on DevOps best practices.

    • Participate in architecture reviews and provide input on cloud-native design patterns.


Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of IT experience with at least 5+ years in AWS Cloud & DevOps.

  • Strong expertise in AWS services (EC2, EKS, ECS, S3, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, IAM, Route53, etc.).

  • Hands-on experience in container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, AWS CodePipeline.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.

  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or Go).

  • Knowledge of monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch, Datadog).

  • Solid background in Linux/Unix system administration.

  • Experience with networking concepts (DNS, Load Balancing, Firewalls, VPNs).

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and cloud cost optimization.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer Professional.

  • Experience with multi-cloud (Azure, Google Cloud Platform) environments.

  • Knowledge of microservices, serverless architectures, and event-driven systems.

  • Exposure to Agile / Scrum methodologies.
