Job Title: Mainframe Developer (IMS DB/DC & MQ)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with expertise in IMS DB/DC (Database/Data Communications) and IBM MQ to design, develop, and maintain mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of mainframe technologies, and hands-on experience in IMS and MQ integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain IMS DB/DC applications, including batch and online transactions.

  • Develop and optimize DL/I queries, PSBs, and database structures for IMS databases.

  • Implement and support IBM MQ integrations between mainframe and distributed systems.

  • Write, debug, and enhance COBOL, JCL, CICS, and IMS programs.

  • Perform IMS database administration tasks, including backup, recovery, and reorganization.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to IMS DB/DC, MQ, and mainframe batch processing.

  • Work with MQ Series for message queuing, ensuring reliable data transfer across systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe applications with modern systems.

  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of IMS transactions and MQ workflows.

  • Follow best practices for mainframe security, compliance, and audit requirements.

  • Document technical specifications, system flows, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must Have:

    • Strong experience in IMS DB/DC (Database/Data Communications).

    • Proficiency in DL/I programming, PSB, DBD, and ACB generation.

    • Hands-on experience with IBM MQ (MQ Series) for mainframe.

    • Expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS.

    • Knowledge of IMS BMP (Batch Message Processing) and MPP (Message Processing Programs).

    • Familiarity with MQ triggers, channels, and clustering.

    • Experience in debugging using IMS logs, MQ traces, and Abend-AID.

    • Understanding of mainframe utilities (IDCAMS, IEBGENER, etc.).

  • Good to Have:

    • Knowledge of DB2, z/OS Connect, or Web Services for mainframe integration.

    • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.

    • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitHub, etc.) for mainframe CI/CD.
