Engineer II

What you will do and what we expect of you

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will:

Duties: Support the Corporate Environmental Sustainability program by developing and providing updates to strategic energy/carbon, water, and waste reduction targets across US sites; Review and interpret P&IDs and other engineering drawings; Review costs for engineering and construction projects; Study the use of alternative utility or energy services that minimize carbon footprints; Prepare estimates of environmental impact, cost analysis, and technical feasibility for energy, water, and waste-related projects. This includes generating HVAC, heat-load, energy, and mass/energy balance calculations; Research and evaluate equipment, systems, or processes to achieve sustainability objectives during a project; Assist system subject matter experts and clients to develop and specify opportunities for integration of sustainable practices within capital planning and equipment lifecycle-based replacement projects; Assist project design teams and external consultants in designing, developing, and supporting engineering project development, plans, standards, equipment selection, and ensuring safety during project implementation; Study combined heat units, power units, cogeneration equipment, or trigeneration equipment that reduces energy use or pollution; and Conduct research on sustainable practices and opportunities. May telecommute. Position requires up to 30% travel to various unanticipated sites within the U.S.

Requirements: Master's degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field and completion of a university-level course, research project, internship, thesis, or experience in the following:

1. Chemical and process engineering calculations such as material and energy balances, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mass transfer;

2. Process flow diagrams (PFD) or piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID);

3. Computational tool and programming language such as MathCAD, MATLAB, and Python;

4. Renewable energy technologies such as photovoltaics: solar energy and fuel cells;

5. Statistical tools and analysis such as linear and non-linear regression analysis;

6. Industrial, laboratory, and relevant manufacturing systems such as heat exchanger, refrigeration, compressor, heat pumps, and chemical reactors; and

7. Engineering principles to determine attainable usage reductions and savings for energy and water conservation measures.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
