About the Department

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) IT group provides comprehensive technology support to CALS departments, centers, and research stations within the NC State community. This support encompasses administrative, academic, and research computing, as well as a wide range of computing and support services. CALS IT delivers services and support to both the college itself and to supported Departmental and Research units. This position will contribute to this mission by providing on-site IT support services specifically to the college.

Essential Job Duties

As an IT Instructional/Classroom Support Professional (ITICSP), you will play a crucial role in providing essential on-site technical support for our college's classrooms and conference rooms located across North Carolina State University's main and Centennial campuses. Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues with A/V equipment, videoconferencing systems, and multimedia applications.
  • Implementing and maintaining wired and wireless network connectivity in supported spaces.
  • Providing Tier 1 (or Tier 2) IT support within teaching and research labs.
  • Offering guidance and support to faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders on instructional technology and e-learning tools.
  • Effectively interacting with users to understand their needs and provide timely solutions, acting as a liaison between the user and internal/external vendors as necessary.
  • Efficiently managing and resolving support tickets collaboratively and independently.
  • Providing backup support to the Plant Sciences Initiative.
  • Supporting the installation and integration of A/V multimedia technology into new and existing spaces.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Technology Integration, Networking Technology or a related field with two years of experience in the IT field OR
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with three years of experience in IT OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or Engineering with one year of IT experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Required Qualifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Minimum of two years of experience with A/V integration and support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Apple macOS.
  • Experience with ITSM solutions like ServiceNow or Remedy.
  • Ability to use a computer and operate common office equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Extron A/V Associates Certification or CTS certification.
  • Experience with Extron or Crestron A/V components, lecture capture, and conferencing technologies (Zoom, Google Meet, Webex, Polycom, Skype).
  • Experience working in higher education (research environment preferred).
  • Active Directory, JAMF, and computer imaging experience.
  • Experience with large format printers.
  • Demonstrated vendor engagement experience.

  • A valid NC Driver's License and the ability to obtain an NC Driver's License within 60 days of hire.
  • A valid Driver's License must be maintained throughout employment.
