Job Overview
The Sr Engineer will be a part of an AppSec team responsible for software security scanning, testing, and monitoring within a GitLab environment across several programming languages. The Sr Software Engineer collaborates with other software engineers, network, and systems engineers to design, implement, and deploy software that meets customer requirements, scales easily, overcomes the limitations of traditional networking solutions, and supports deployment in highly available and secure environments. They actively participate in the architecture and design of various software components, focusing on creating applications that leverage technologies such as virtualization, microservices, SDN, NFV, and Big Data platforms. They handle technical assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations. They work on tasks that demand considerable judgment and initiative, understand the implications of their work, and make recommendations for solutions. They typically receive minimal instruction on daily work and only require general guidance on newly introduced assignments.

Job Responsibilities:

Technical Engineering Services
  • Drive engineering projects focused on software security by developing and implementing security solutions, conducting tests and inspections, and preparing detailed reports.
  • Supervise base and associate level engineers as needed. Understands system protocols, how systems operate and data flows.
  • Aware of current technology benefits
  • Possesses working knowledge of API controls and security best practices, including authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and input validation.
  • Familiar with the OWASP Top Ten security risks and their mitigation strategies to ensure robust application and system security.
  • Capable of independently developing across the full software stack, with a strong understanding of how software vulnerabilities relate to SAST (Static Application Security Testing), DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing), and SCA (Software Composition Analysis) scanning methodologies.
  • Understands the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation work.
  • Contributes to new and existing technology options that support business goals.
  • Independent study of current technology is expected.
  • Interacts with system engineers to define system requirement and/or necessary requirements for automation.

Innovation
  • Contributes to designs to implement new ideas which utilize new frameworks to improve an existing or new system/process/service.
  • Review existing designs and processes to highlight more efficient ways to complete existing workload more effectively through industry perspectives.
  • Understands the creation of company IPR.

Technical Leadership
  • Collaborates with technical teams and utilizes system expertise to deliver technical solutions.
  • Continuously learns and teaches others existing and new technologies.
  • Contributes to the development of others through mentoring or in house workshops and learning sessions.

Technical Writing
  • Writes basic documentation on how technology works. Creates clear documentation for new code and systems used.
  • Documenting systems designs, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration at the manager level.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering. Equivalent experience in lieu of degree might be considered.

Experience:
  • 4-7 years of technical engineering experience, including designing and documenting RESTful APIs with OpenAPI and evaluating and implementing API security controls (authentication, authorization, rate limiting, input validation).
  • Strong technical writing, communication, customer service and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge writing Java, Python, and Shell

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Base Pay Range: $113,600 - $205,000

Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
