Job Details

Summary:
The field service technician will provide basic technical support for the telecommunications systems through the assembly, installation, and testing of the telecommunications systems, including their equipment and peripherals. The Field Service Technician must be able to work with customers, project managers, and senior engineers to build and prepare systems for field deployments. The Field Service Technician must have a general knowledge of the implementation of on-premises telecommunications systems across multiple manufacturers.
Essential Functions:

  • Ensures exceptional client satisfaction is consistently delivered and maintained
  • Respond to requests for on-site installation and perform scheduled activities of equipment installation to high standards and manufacturing standards.
  • Prepares for installations and upgrades by reviewing work orders; obtains necessary equipment, supplies, and tools; and evaluates installation location.
  • Perform on-premises wireless surveys using industry-standard tools.
  • Assists with software and firmware updates to system processors, system circuit packs, IP stations, and associated equipment.
  • Able to use network tracing (wire shark) and other troubleshooting tools to diagnose/troubleshoot end-point devices and peripheral issues.
  • Ensures end-point systems are functioning and with optimal performance by testing equipment and connections and identifying and correcting any issues.
  • Identifies proactively product/service sales opportunities at client sites and processes work order modifications as necessary
  • Troubleshoots and supports 3rd party software and applications.
  • Completes required paperwork (timesheets, service orders, forms, inventory, expense reports, and equipment-related items)
  • Adheres to procedures and safety requirements as appropriate

Additional Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides cutover support and assistance.
  • Performs Server Room Rack and Stack
  • Performs mainframe and IDF cross-connects.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Ability to work various shifts and occasional weekends as project activity requires.
  • Must have excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Travel to customer sites, locally and nationally, as needed.
  • Capable of working alone or with remote supervision.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate high standards of conduct and ethics as well as appropriate judgment, independence, and discretion.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer
  • Strong work ethic and personal drive to excel
  • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to get the job done
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly.
  • Requires a valid driver's license
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Telephony and LAN networking experience

Travel:

  • 80% and as needed.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 80% of the time. Our client will reimburse all travel costs. While we try to minimize time away, there will be occasions requiring weekend travel and multi-week deployments.
