Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Cash Bonus Target: 10%
Eligible for an Annual Discretionary Restricted Stock Units Bonus Target: 10%
These discretionary target bonuses may be awarded semi-annually based upon your achievement of performance goals and targets.

We are seeking a motivated AI Engineer to join our newly formed AI Center of Excellence. This role is pivotal in driving the adoption and implementation of artificial intelligence across Axos. The ideal candidate will translate complex business needs into scalable, production-grade AI powered solutions.
This position is on-site and may be located at our office in San Diego CA, Irvine CA, or Centennial CO.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and translate requirements into technical specifications for AI-driven solutions
- Build and test prototypes rapidly to validate new ideas and demonstrate feasibility to stakeholders
- Deliver scalable, secure, and production-grade AI applications on cloud platforms
- Writing clean, scalable, and documented code
- Work independently to manage projects from initial review to final delivery, ensuring alignment with CoE standards
- Stay current with the latest advancements in AI/ML and advocate for the adoption of new technologies and techniques
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering with strong proficiency in languages like Python
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and system integration patterns
- Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JWTs
- Familiarity with git or Azure DevOps for version control
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI applications
- The ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the financial services or banking industry
- Experience with cloud-native AI services (e.g., Azure AI Foundry or Google Vertex AI)
- Experience with AI/LLM-powered applications, developer tools, or observability platforms (e.g. Langchain framework)
- A "get stuff done" attitude-comfortable shipping fast and iterating based on user feedback
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
