Composites/Non-Metallics (Associate or Mid-Level Engineer)

Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is looking for a Composite/Non-Metallic Engineer (Level 2 or 3) based out of Seal Beach, California. This position offers a wide range of tasks and responsibilities including dealing with airline customers, suppliers, and multiple internal business units. The successful candidate will be energetic, driven, able to work independently and in a team, and able to work special projects with minimal instruction.
Primary Responsibilities:
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:

- Answer inquiries from airlines with regards to composites, non-metals, repairs and similar materials and processes
- Revise material and process specifications as necessary for the continued production of spare parts
- Conduct, review and approve supplier composite and metal bond part qualifications
- Conduct composite and non-metallic material qualifications to material and process specifications
- Oversee failure analyses
- Review documents and drawings to ensure the correct call out of materials and processes appropriate to a part or assembly
- Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
- Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
- Assists others in work statement, assist defining strategies and/or provides consultation

- 1+ years of experience with Composites and/or Non-Metallic Materials
- Experience reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, material processes, schematic and diagrams
- Must be able to travel 10% of the time
- Must be able to travel domestically and/or internationally on short notice
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 2+ years of experience in the aerospace industry
- Bachelor's degree or higher in chemical engineer or materials engineering
