This is a contract to hire role.
Expenses will be paid by actuals and per diem will be determined by government caps.
First two project are already underway and they can be anywhere, ideally in the Midwest
Candidate will be required to travel 80%.
Must Have Skills:
ATT Central Office Experience, need to be ATT specific experience.
- knowledge of installation work in ATT facilities
- First two job sites will be in STL
- Travel will be M-F normal working hours
<>Responsibilities</>A Material Engineer (Implementation), designated as MEI, is responsible for developing, testing, and implementing materials used in network infrastructure and related technologies. Their primary focus is on ensuring the materials meet performance, durability, and safety standards, supporting the deployment and maintenance of wireless and wireline networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair central office and remote site telecom/networking equipment (e.g., routers, switches, fiber optics, multiplexers, power systems).
- Perform routine maintenance, testing, and upgrades on network infrastructure.
- Respond to and troubleshoot service outages and alarms in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage and document inventory, circuit diagrams, and installation records.
- Work closely with Network Operations Center (NOC), engineers, and vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, safety regulations, and local codes.
- Travel to field sites and remote locations as needed for installation and repair work.
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces in central office facilities.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours.
- Collaborate with production, process, and engineering teams to understand material specifications for network components and infrastructure.
- Conduct material characterization, testing, and analysis to evaluate properties such as strength, heat tolerance, electrical conductivity, and environmental resilience.
- Develop and recommend suitable materials for specific applications within network systems, ensuring compliance with technical and safety standards.
- Monitor and analyze material performance during testing and operational phases, identifying causes of failure or substandard performance.
- Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and documentation for materials used in network deployment projects.
- Support the integration of new materials into existing systems, including testing prototypes and validating material suitability.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to select and qualify materials, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Stay updated on advancements in materials science relevant to telecommunications infrastructure.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Experience in testing and analyzing composite or specialized materials.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and laboratory testing procedures.
- Bachelor s degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Typically 5+ years of experience in materials development or testing, preferably within telecommunications or related industries.
- Environmental and Safety Considerations:
- Ensure compliance with environmental laws and safety regulations related to material handling and testing.
- Contribute to sustainable practices in material selection and testing processes.
