Order Orchestration & Sourcing Lead Developer (Ibm Sterling)

  • Order Orchestration & Sourcing
    Design and implement dynamic order routing, sourcing, and schedule determination strategies (e.g., BOPIS, ship-from-store) within Sterling OMS.

  • Sterling Configuration & Development
    Customize Sterling components-including pipelines, user exits, SDF (Service Definition Framework), agent frameworks, and alert or queue handling-as well as functional modules such as inventory, sourcing, fulfillment, and order capture.

  • Integration & Middleware
    Build robust integrations with ERP, WMS, CRM, and third-party systems using REST/SOAP APIs, JMS/MQ messaging, and middleware tools.

  • Technical Leadership
    Act as the Sterling technical expert: lead architecture discussions, code reviews, troubleshooting, mentoring junior developers, and facilitating deployment & SDLC best practices.

  • System Performance & Production Support
    Monitor, tune, and support OMS performance and stability. Manage production incidents, root-cause analysis, and provide timely resolutions.

  • Agile Collaboration & Documentation
    Participate in Agile ceremonies, collaborate with business analysts and QA teams, and produce technical documentation including design specs, deployment plans, and operational runbooks.

Required Qualifications
  • Sterling OMS Expertise
    6+ years of hands-on experience specifically with IBM Sterling OMS/DOM, including working knowledge of orchestration, sourcing, pipelines, SDF, user exits, and agent frameworks.

  • Programming & Tools
    Proficient in Java/J2EE, XML, XSLT, SQL, API development, messaging systems (MQ/JMS), and tooling (e.g., Eclipse, IntelliJ, SOAP UI, Postman). Familiarity with Agile tools like Jira, Confluence, Git/GitHub/Bitbucket, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).

  • System Integrations
    Experience integrating Sterling with ERP, WMS, or other enterprise systems using modern technical approaches.

  • Retail/Supply Chain Domain
    Understanding of omni-channel retail operations-BOPIS, distributed fulfillment, inventory visibility, and supply chain workflows.

  • Leadership & Support
    Proven experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, handling Tier-3 production support, and managing complex problem resolution.

Preferred Skills
  • Sterling OMS Cloud or containerized deployment experience.

  • Familiarity with Sterling Store UI, Custom Order Console, or UI components.

  • Knowledge of microservices, headless commerce paradigms, or emerging order management frameworks.

  • Exposure to observability tools (Splunk, AppDynamics) and DevOps practices
