Responsibilities

Role Purpose

The Cloud Strategist Architect strategizes, designs and implements medium, complex, and highly complex cloud technology solutions that meet business requirements that are fully aligned with enterprise cloud strategy and architecture guidelines. They are responsible for ensuring that the organization's cloud environment is secure, scalable, and cost-effective.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Proficient in producing architectures and designs that involve the creation of new design patterns for moderate to high technological and business function complexity in the cloud.
  • Provides end to end architecture for a cloud implementation project to ensure the detailed design and development remains consistent with the overall enterprise architecture.
  • Develops and applies criteria for placement of solutions and applications in the standard cloud platforms.
  • Supports the planning and managing cloud migrations of on-premises systems and applications to the cloud.
  • Leads and advises on cloud strategy initiated quality efforts such as scalability, maintainability; security; extensibility; etc.; ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations to bring successful conclusion and implementation.
  • Identifies issues between the architecture and vendor solution implementation. Identifies solutions and formulate implementation and migration strategies.
  • Provides expertise in cloud transformation, technical knowledge, methodology and framework, data integration and data flows, Enterprise Architecture, and software development, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Manages and optimizes cloud costs by monitoring cloud usage and costs, and identifying opportunities to optimize and reduce costs.
  • Stay current with cloud technologies and trends by researching and staying informed about new cloud developments, and determining how they can be used to benefit the organization.
  • Supports resolution of escalated problems; helps identify root causes; identifies customer needs and determines the appropriate approach to ensure resolution.
  • Communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort to large and small technical audiences.
  • Defines strategies for various cloud components such as networking, compute, presentation layer and security required to support relevant technical environments.
  • Leads orientation and planning review sessions with the other Information Technology areas for alignment and adoption.

  • Maintains and applies up to date knowledge of discreet and integrated information systems elements.

  • Subject matter expert in various components of multiple public cloud platforms such as Google Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure and Oracle OCI.
  • Knowledge of the systems architecture used consistently within or across the organization or enterprise.
  • Helps define and adopt the Cloud architecture standards against which decisions are made regarding design and development of all IT resources and assists across the enterprise.
  • Shows understanding of the concept and usefulness of foundation architecture in the development and deployment of software and hardware; integrates tasks with foundational architecture.
  • Uses relevant tools and techniques in their own work area.
  • Provides guidance on the standards and guidelines to members of the development community.
  • Applies the evaluation criteria used for the selection of cloud platform Ensures the completeness (Fit for purpose) of the architecture in ensuring pertinent requirements of stakeholders is inclusive.
  • Research the design of new cloud components. Assesses benefits and drawbacks of proposed changes.
  • Monitors emerging cloud technology trends and assesses impact for the company.
  • Consults to multiple project teams in diverse environments.
  • Determines and explains the interrelationships of the various cloud technologies and their respective roles with the design.

System Development Life Cycle Knowledge

  • Applies knowledge of how technology solutions process through life cycle phases of requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment and decommission.
  • Performs required tasks for one or more phases of the SDLC. Prepares status updates on how work is progressing through a phase.
  • Provides complete and accurate handoffs to others who are responsible for subsequent phases of work.
  • Meets project plan expectations and participates in resolving handoff issues. Coordinates required tasks for one or more phases of the SDLC. Consolidates status updates and resolves handoff issues or other problems.
  • Makes suggestions for shared tools, documentation standards and methodology.
  • Develops shared tools and documentation standards for the Cloud team.
  • Participates in creating recommendations for design and implementation of methodology.

  • Ability to plan and account for impacts of system development efforts across architecture system components, critical business processes, data and applications.
  • Conceptualizes the impact of changes to cloud platforms, as a result of system acquisition, system merger, or implementation of enterprise wide solutions.

  • Researches the critical and underlying relationships between primary business, technology, and systems platforms. Devises approaches that integrate system components.

Qualifications: Education and Work Experience

  • 5 - 7 years of experience
  • 2 years of architect, leadership or management experience
  • 5 years of architect, leadership or management experience preferred
  • Healthcare provider industry experience is preferred
  • In depth knowledge of one or more public cloud platforms such as Google Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure and/or Oracle OCI required.

  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'

    degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
