Job Summary:
The Test Engineer is a highly skilled professional who works independently and applies established engineering practices, creativity, and technical knowledge to support the design, development, and validation of products in a technology-focused environment. This role includes responsibilities across new product development, modernization efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer is responsible for designing test systems, performing technical analysis, and ensuring product reliability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet performance, cost, and quality objectives.
- Integrate quality and manufacturability into product and test system designs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering practices, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, 5S) to promote efficiency and workplace organization.
- Communicate technical information effectively through reports, presentations, and documentation.
- Define, analyze, and translate product and test requirements to support development, sustainment, and R&D activities.
- Manage time and resources effectively to meet project schedules and cost constraints.
- Apply engineering judgment to plan and execute thorough, reliable development and testing processes.
- Diagnose and resolve technical challenges using structured problem-solving techniques and tools.
- Prepare and review technical documents including procedures, specifications, reports, and correspondence to meet project and customer requirements.
- Work independently while actively contributing to a team-oriented environment across engineering, operations, quality, and business functions.
- Design hardware and software for test systems, select and integrate equipment, and build automated test systems of low to medium complexity.
- Develop, code, and debug computer-based data acquisition systems for automated testing.
- Produce comprehensive design documentation for test systems (e.g., wiring diagrams, schematics, component lists) to ensure accurate replication and maintenance.
- Maintain configuration control and validation of all test hardware and software.
- Ensure test data is accurate, organized, and properly archived.
- Develop and execute test procedures based on product specifications; calculate equipment needs, test setups, and test limits.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with unexpected or hazardous events during testing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience. Bachelor s degree in an engineering discipline required; Master s or Ph.D. preferred
- Analog and digital circuit design.
- Microprocessor and microcontroller design.
- Automated test system development and data acquisition system programming.
- Software development and verification.
- Test procedure creation and requirements analysis/verification.
- Configuration management in a regulated environment.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proven ability to lead and manage test programs, including scheduling, budgeting, and directing support personnel.
- Proficiency in engineering schematics, diagrams, and documentation.
- Experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with SPICE, schematic capture tools, and PCB layout software.
- Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis capabilities.
- Knowledge of communication interfaces such as ARINC429, CAN, RS232, and I2C.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a regulated and fast-paced product development or manufacturing environment.
- National Instruments LabVIEW certification.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as the ALOHA Application Framework.
- Hands-on experience in manufacturing or production test environments.
